1060 Aluminum Bar
It is often used in daily necessities, lighting fixtures, reflectors, decorations, chemical industrial containers, heat sinks, signs, electronics, lamps, nameplates, electrical appliances, stampings etc. It is especially used in these cases (for example chemical equipment) where high corrosion resistance and formability are required, but the strength is not high.
According to the different metal elements contained in the aluminum bar, the aluminum bar can be generally divided into 8 categories as below:
1, 1000 series aluminum bars (mainly containing 1050, 1060, 1100 series). The 1000 series aluminum bars are the most aluminum-containing series in all series. The purity can reach above 99.00%. Because it does not contain other elements, the production process is relatively simple and the price is relatively cheap. It is the most commonly used series in the conventional industry. Most of the circulation in the market is the 1050 and 1060 series. The 1000 series aluminum bars determine the minimum aluminum content of the series based on the last two Arabic numerals. For example, the last two digits of the 1050 series are 50, according to the international brand nomenclature, the qualified aluminum content must be above 99.5%.
2. 2000 series aluminum bars (2A16, 2A02). The 2000 series aluminum bars are characterized by high hardness, with the highest content of copper, about 3-5%. The 2000 series of aluminum bars are aerospace aluminum and are not commonly used in conventional industries.
2024 aluminum bar is a typical hard aluminum alloys in the aluminum-copper-magnesium system. It can be heat treated and has the advantages of high strength, easy processing, easy turning and corrosion resistance.
After the heat treatment (T3, T4, T351), the mechanical properties of 2024 aluminum bar are significantly improved. In T3 state its mechanical parameters are as follows: tensile strength: 470 MPa, 0.2% yield strength: 325 MPa, elongation: 10%, fatigue strength: 105 MPa, hardness: 120 HB.
The main applications of the 2024 aluminum bar: aircraft structure, rivets, truck hubs, propeller assemblies and other structural components.
3, 3000 series aluminum bars (3003, 3A21). Besides aluminum, the main alloy elements of 3000 series aluminum bars is manganese, which is between 1.0 and 1.5. 3000 series aluminum bars are a kind of aluminum alloys with better anti-rust function.
4, 4000 series aluminum bars (4A01, 4000). This is a series of aluminum bar with higher silicon content, which is common between 4.5 and 6.0%. It is commonly used for building materials, mechanical parts, forging materials and welding materials; its advantages are low melting point, good corrosion resistance, heat-resistance and wear resistance.
5, 5000 series aluminum bars (5052, 5005, 5083, 5A05). The 5000 series aluminum bars are a quite commonly used alloy aluminum bar series. The main element is magnesium, and the magnesium content is between 3-5%, it’s also called as aluminum-magnesium alloy. The main features are low density, high tensile strength and high elongation.
6, 6000 series aluminum bars (6061, 6063). It mainly contains two alloy elements of magnesium and silicon, so it combines the advantages of 4000 series and 5000 series. 6061 aluminum bar is a cold-processed aluminum forged product, and is suitable for those occasions requiring high corrosive and oxidative requirements. It has good usability, easy coating and good machinability.
7, 7000 series aluminum bars (7075). It mainly contains zinc and is an aluminum-magnesium-zinc-copper alloy, which can be heat-treated.
8, 8000 series aluminum bars (8011). It is mainly used for making aluminum foil.
